Chinese platform account foundations
Chinese Social Media Account Setup and Verification
Lotus helps international organizations work out the right account route before they start submitting documents. We assess eligibility, prepare the application, coordinate setup and verification, configure access and document the handover. The platform—not the agency—makes the final approval decision.

Account foundations and China operations
The ownership question comes first
The cheapest or fastest application route is not always the safest one. If an account is tied to the wrong entity, phone number, administrator or third party, a brand can inherit problems with access, renewal, advertising, commerce or future handover.
We first settle what the account is for, who should control it and which features it will eventually need. Only then do we confirm the current route, prepare the documents and organize the application.

Other Chinese platform products can be assessed when Lotus has a current delivery route and the client’s objective justifies them.
The difference between account setup, advertising and commerce access
An approved profile is not the same thing as a fully usable commercial setup. Advertising, creator tools, stores, payments, mini programs and enterprise products may involve separate or linked applications, with different entity, document and fee requirements.
We map those requirements before anyone mistakes “account opened” for “ready to operate.”
How the process works
1. Define the intended use
Confirm the platform, audience, required features, internal owner and intended way of working.
2. Assess the application route
Review current rules, entity and industry fit, required documents, dependencies and material risks.
3. Prepare and submit
Organize fields and supporting information, coordinate the agreed application steps and track feedback.
4. Configure access and foundations
Set up the approved account, roles, profile details, security controls and required connections.
5. Hand over or move into operations
Document access and responsibilities, train the team where needed, or transition into ongoing social media management.
Important boundaries
- Platforms control eligibility, review, approval, feature access, fees and timing.
- Rules can change by entity, jurisdiction, industry, product and applicant history.
- We can prepare and coordinate a strong application, but we cannot guarantee acceptance.
- The client must provide accurate, current and authorized documents.
- Advertising, commerce, payments, integrations and advanced features may require separate work.
- Account access and ownership should be explicitly documented before operation begins.
Who this service is for
- Overseas companies opening their first Chinese social accounts
- Brands reorganizing accounts held through former employees, agencies or partners
- Teams adding advertising, commerce or enterprise capabilities
- Organizations expanding to additional platforms
- Brands that need a documented account and access register before outsourcing operations
When another service may be needed first
- If the team has not chosen the right platform, feel free to start with market research or market-entry strategy.
- If an existing account is restricted, use account compliance and recovery.
- If accounts are already ready but daily ownership is missing, use China social media management.
Frequently asked questions
Can an overseas company verify a Chinese social media account?
Sometimes. The answer varies by platform product, applicant jurisdiction, industry, entity documents and current rules. We check the available route and show you the material gaps before recommending an application.
Can Lotus use its own company to hold our account?
Account ownership is a governance decision, not an administrative shortcut. The structure should reflect platform rules, the client’s legal position, continuity, access and exit requirements. If a third party has any role, that role needs to be documented clearly.
What documents will we need?
Requirements vary, but they may include company-registration evidence, brand or trademark authorization, identity and administrator information, contact details, industry licenses and other product-specific documents. Lotus provides the current checklist for the selected application route.
How long does verification take?
There is no universal timeline. Preparation, translation, document quality, platform review, clarification requests, industry checks and resubmission can all affect timing. Lotus provides a workback plan based on the current application route and known dependencies.
Is verification the same as opening an advertising account or store?
Not necessarily. Business identity, advertising, commerce, payments and creator tools may use separate or linked approvals. We map the full requirement against what the brand actually wants to do.
What happens after approval?
After approval, we can configure the account, document access, support handover and train the team. If ongoing delivery is needed, the work can then move into content, community, campaign, paid-media or commerce operations.
Can Lotus guarantee approval?
No. We can assess eligibility, prepare the application carefully and coordinate the available follow-up steps. The platform still controls the decision.
