China owned-audience and relationship marketing
WeChat Marketing Agency for International Brands
WeChat is more than a place to publish. For many organizations in China, it is part content channel, part service point and part relationship infrastructure. Lotus helps international teams decide what role it should play, set up the right operating foundation and keep the work moving after launch.

China platform and operations expertise
Give every part of the WeChat presence a clear job
An Official Account can publish useful content, support customer communication and lead people towards a website, event, Mini Program, WeCom contact or another next step. That range is valuable, but it also creates clutter when menus, content, campaigns and customer journeys are added without a shared plan.
We begin with the audience and the action the business wants to enable. From there, we define the account structure, content system, connected touchpoints and day-to-day responsibilities that make the presence useful.

Search and audience journeys
- Review of the questions and topics the account should credibly address
- Clear account naming, positioning and content structure
- Article titles, summaries, page elements and internal journeys
- Connections from content to the next useful action
- Review of available search, content, traffic and audience signals
- Ongoing improvement based on what users find and do
We can improve clarity and discoverability, but we do not guarantee a fixed position in Weixin Search. Relevance, competition, account history and the platform's own systems affect visibility.
Community and customer support
- Comment, message or group-monitoring workflows
- Routine response under agreed rules
- Response libraries, service hours and approval limits
- Customer, commercial or issue triage
- Escalation to the right client team
- Ongoing community nurturing when it is included in the scope
Direct private follow-up, sales conversion, customer service and regulated enquiries need clear ownership and boundaries before operations begin.
Connected ecosystem journeys
- Official Account to WeChat Channels, Mini Program, website or event
- Event registration or campaign response to WeCom follow-up
- QR code, menu and content destination planning
- Journey requirements and handoff points
- Coordination with approved developers or specialist partners
- Testing and operational documentation for the agreed connection
Mini Program design and development, complex integrations and unsupported third-party systems are separate scopes. We define them only when the user journey justifies the investment.
Ongoing account management
- Monthly planning and editorial calendars
- Content production, approval and publishing
- Account, menu and journey optimization
- Community or message support under agreed rules
- Campaign, partner and stakeholder coordination
- Reporting, recommendations and next-cycle decisions

How the work runs
1. Audit the current position
Review the business objective, audience, existing accounts, access, content, connected destinations, analytics, stakeholder workflow and known constraints.
2. Choose the right account and ecosystem role
Confirm what WeChat needs to accomplish, which products are genuinely required and what should wait for a later phase.
3. Build the operating foundation
Set up or improve account access, profile, menus, content architecture, connected journeys, approval rules, response boundaries and measurement.
4. Run the content and relationship cycle
Plan, produce, approve, publish, monitor and respond according to the agreed cadence and responsibilities.
5. Use reporting to improve the next decision
Review delivery, content, audience actions, journey performance, risks and opportunities. The useful outcome is a clearer next move, not a longer activity report.
When WeChat earns a place in the plan
WeChat is often valuable when the business needs an owned Chinese-language presence, recurring communication, a service or event pathway, or a way to move known audiences into a deeper relationship. It can support B2B technology, entertainment, travel and lifestyle programs, as well as work in education, NGO and other sectors.
Our team has worked across different industries and business models. That range helps us bring broader reference points to the strategy and develop ideas that fit the audience and commercial problem, rather than repeating one category's playbook.
When it may not be the right first step
- The business has not yet defined the audience or China opportunity.
- There is no useful reason for people to follow, return or take a next step.
- Account ownership, applicant eligibility or internal approvals are unresolved.
- The team cannot maintain suitable Chinese-language content or customer responses.
- Another platform has a more credible role in discovery or conversion.
- The expectation is guaranteed followers, leads, sales or search rankings.
If the team has not chosen the right platform, feel free to start with market research or market-entry strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Are WeChat and Weixin the same thing?
Tencent operates Weixin for users in mainland China and WeChat for users elsewhere. They are closely connected and interoperable, but they are separate sister services with differences in available features and rules. International teams commonly use “WeChat” as the broad English term; Lotus confirms the relevant Weixin or WeChat route for the actual audience and account.
Should we choose a Subscription Account or a Service Account?
The right choice depends on the applicant, intended audience, publishing needs, service functions and the products the account must connect with. Subscription Accounts place more emphasis on publishing and readership communication; Service Accounts offer more user-management and customer-service tools. We assess the current options before recommending an account type.
Can an overseas organization open and verify an account?
Sometimes. The available route depends on the organization, jurisdiction, industry, account type, intended features and current rules. Lotus checks the applicant and intended use before preparing an application. The platform makes the final approval decision.
Can Lotus manage content and publishing every month?
Yes. The scope can include editorial planning, Chinese writing and localization, design coordination, approvals, publishing, quality checks, optimization and reporting. The volume and format are agreed around the job of the account and the client's review capacity.
Can Lotus manage comments, messages or WeChat groups?
Yes, when the operating boundaries are clear. We agree response rules, service hours, approval limits, escalation paths and which enquiries must return to the client's customer, legal or commercial team.
Is WeCom included?
WeCom can be connected when the journey requires company-owned customer or business relationships, group operations, event follow-up or service workflows. The WeCom operating model, roles and ongoing workload are scoped separately rather than assumed inside every WeChat project.

Can Lotus build a Mini Program?
We can define the user journey, requirements, content, operating model and ecosystem connections. Mini Program design, development and complex integrations are separate work and may involve an approved technical partner. We recommend that investment only when a simpler route cannot do the job.
How much does WeChat marketing cost?
The main cost drivers are account setup, content volume and format, original production, publishing cadence, community or service workload, campaign activity, connected journeys, development needs, reporting and the condition of the existing account. We price after those variables are clear.
How quickly can a WeChat program launch?
Account eligibility, verification, access, content readiness, connected products and client approvals all affect timing. After the initial assessment, Lotus provides a workback plan with the real dependencies.
